Internship Journal #2

So far for our externship, we have gone to two concerts: Secrets & Blessthefall and the North Park Festival of the Arts. Both of these concerts have been fun, and we certainly have learned more after attending each of them. At the North Park Festival that occurred last Saturday, Jazmin and I, Khalil, only stayed to hear the last two bands that played on the main stage. Those two bands were The Intergalactix and The Creepy Creeps, the latter of which was a local San Diego band. At the beginning of the Creepy Creeps set, many people wore their lucha libre masks and a man dressed as an astronaut came out running, waving an American flag. The band appeared on stage, with every member wearing huge chimpanzee masks. Two female dancers also appeared on stage. I actually attended a board meeting yesterday, May 19th, at the Price Center at UCSD that talked about shutting down the famous San Diego concert venue the Che Cafe. The meeting was very interesting and I got to hear from many volunteers and attendees and why they believe the Che should stay open still. Unfortunately, I could not attend the voting meeting because of another commitment at the time. These experiences were fun, and I hope that we go on many more like these!
